Polly and Lorna, I am a friend of your mom's from work. We have kept in touch a bit since she left work, but being the private person she was, never really let on how sick she was to most of us. Therefore, I was very surprised and very saddened to hear of her passing. Your mom was a wonderful, wonderful person and when she did let us into a little bit of her personal life, it was talk of the both of you - her travels to your far away homes, weddings, a baby, and happy vacation times together. I have two pictures in my mind that stick with me of your mom outside of the office. Both are photos that she shared with me. The first is of her and Polly in a little hut, somewhere in South Afica, sipping tea wearing funky little hats (I think to keep warm). The second is a picture of her holding tiny Tessa in her arms with a big smile on her face. This was taken during the first time she got to meet her. It is funny how some things stick with you. That is how I like to remember your mom, enjoying life, happy times. It was obvious that she was very proud of both of you. We will all miss her very much.
