As a former German student I have many fond memories of the 4 years spent with Frau Stegerwald. My son is currently taking German now and I often tell him of my own past teacher. I also remember my trip to Germany with Frau and what fun we had. My sincerest condolences to the family, what a wonderful woman and blessing in so many lives.

Dear family, I am sorry for your loss. Frieda and I taught language together at CHS and she helped me as a new teacher. Later she became friends at coffee after morning Mass and entertained our group in her beautiful and warm home. She also introduced me to the talents of Ray Bennett for which I am grateful. You are all in my prayers. Dell Kasinskas

I had many great teachers at Cheshire High School, but Frieda was the only one I had for all four years. She influenced a vast extended family of students at CHS, and was a force behind so many extra-curricular activities. I seem to recall dinner at a German restaurant on (I think) Bantam Lake. The school trip to Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Paris in April '72 with Frieda leading the tour, was one of my best memories from High School.
To this day, I still have a bronze paperweight on my desk made by a fellow classmate in first year that says,"Lotta ist crank, schade."
I'm glad to have had her influence on my life.
- Rob Coolidge, CHS '74

Blessings from El Spinney at Carleton-Willard. I first knew Frieda when she entered Ross-Worthen. My husband was there also. Frieda was beautiful in looks and in spirit and I came to be very fond of her. I am so sorry I was not there in her last days...for I wanted the privilege of sitting vigil with her. Just an hour ago, I wrote her name in the Carleton-Willard Memorial Book with a prayer. I do hope to see her daughter and some of her family at the CWV Memorial Service.

My dear Frau, What wonderful times we had in German class--the songs, the food, the very severe grammar lessons! I have been in touch with many of your former students from the Class of '77, and we all have such fond memories. May you rest in peace. Auf Wiedersehen, Pat Gallagher

My condolences to you all. I had Mrs S for freshman German. I recall a German poem she recited to the class. I remarked that the poet's name was longer than the poem. She did not find that amusing! She was a very dedicated teacher-she will be missed and fondly remembered by many many of her former students!
