Obituary of Mollie Birenbaum
16:00:11Mrs. Mollie (Cooper) Birenbaum, 94, formerly of 120 Hillside Ave., Waterbury, died Tuesday June 19, 2007in Madison. She was the widow of Max Birenbaum who died in 1989. Mrs. Birenbaum was born in Fall River Mass., Oct. 26, 1912, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Bertha (Barrish) Cooper and had been a Waterbury resident for more than 60 years. She was a graduate of Western Conn. College and was a school teacher during her professional career. She assisted her husband in the operation of their retail business, The Lorraine Shop for many years. She also volunteeredas a mentor for the Waterbury Probation Dept. She was a member of Beth El Synagogue, the Beth El Sisterhood, Hadassah and the Max Traurig Leisure Group. She leaves two sons, Charles Birenbaum of Guilford and David Birenbaum of Washington, D.C.; a brother Harold Cooper of Waterbury; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in Workmans Circle Cemetery, Stillson Rd., Waterbury. A Seudas Havraah (Collation) will be held immediately following the service at the Mattatuck Museum, 144 West Main St, Waterbury. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Ave. is in charge of arrangements.
