Obituary of Doris Costello
Mrs. Doris (Shea) Costello, 90, of Cheshire died Wednesday July 11, 2007 at her home with her daughter by her side. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Patrick V. Costello. Mrs. Costello was born May 20, 1917 in Chambersberg, PA, a daughter of the late James F. and Elizabeth (Sheeran) Shea. She was a graduate of St. Margarets Grammar School and Crosby High School in Waterbury. She lived in Naugatuck for 45 years and moved to her daughters home in Cheshire 11 years ago. She retired from St. Marys Hospital in 1994 after 27 years of service. Prior to that she was employed by the M. Freedman Company in Naugatuck. She truly loved her jobs and co-workers. She attended St. Bridgets Church in Cheshire and was a member of the Naugatuck Womens Club and St. Francis Church in Naugatuck for many years. Doris was a loyal Yankee and UConn Huskies fan and she devoted her life to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Attorney Ellen M. Costello of Cheshire, with whom she made her home, her son Kevin P. Costello of Wolcott, her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Costello, three grandchildren whom she adored, Christopher Patrick Costello, Caitlin Shea Costello and Carrigan Sheeran Costello all of Wolcott. She also leaves two nieces, Joan Blacker Lynch of Salem, CT and Susan Blacker LeVine of California, nephews, James, Michael, Dennis and Terry Costello, Frank, Tim and Brendan Lynch and Patrick and Dennis LeVine. Funeral services for Mrs. Costello will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Slater Funeral Home 242 South Main St. Cheshire to St. Bridgets Church 175 Main St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
