Obituary of Norman Tallaksen
Cheshire - Norman Tallaksen, 87, of Cook Hill Rd. died on July 28, 2007 of complications from Parkinsons disease, which he contracted in 1995. He was the husband of Ruth Tallaksen.Mr. Tallaksen was born on September 4, 1919 in West Orange, New Jersey and graduated from West Orange High School in 1937. He continued his education part time at night, at Rutgerss College and Newark Engineering.On January 1, 1942 he enlisted in the US Navy in Newport RI and was transferred to the construction training center (Seabees) in Norfolk, Va. He was finally transferred to the Amphibious Training Base at Little Creek, Va. where he was honorably discharged on September 7, 1945 as Chief Storekeeper.He was hired in June 1937 by Voltarc Tubes Inc. of Newark NJ, which later moved to Norwalk Ct. in 1945. After working 48 years at Voltarc (including his naval service) he retired as Vice- President of Administration. He lived out his days at Elim Park in Cheshire Ct. Besides his wife of 64 years he is survived by five children; Douglas, David, Gary, Linda and Alan; a sister Thelma; two brothers, Arthur and Gordon; five children, Douglas, David, Gary, Linda and Alan; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, Ella Rose.Arrangements A memorial service will be held on Friday August 10th at 1p.m. at the Elim Park Chapel, 150 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
