Obituary of Anna Krowchenko
Anna 'Anne' Pauline Krowchenko, formerly of Middlebury, died peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2007 at Meriden Center in Meriden, CT. Anne was born in Waterbury on April 1, 1917, the daughter of Hippolitus and Anna Kutelis. She grew up in the Brooklyn section of Waterbury and often spoke of her fond memories of roller skating and sledding down Sunnyside Avenue as a child and the neighborhood dances, which she enjoyed so much. It was at one of those dances that she met her husband, Fred Krowchenko. Anne moved to her home at Yale Avenue in Middlebury in 1951 where she was a homemaker and raised her family. She built her life around loving and caring for her children. A talented seamstress, she created beautiful clothes for herself and her daughters. She enjoyed reading and shared that interest by filling her home with books and reading to her children and grandchildren as they were growing up. She shared her talents with the community by serving as a Girl Scout Leader in Middlebury for several years. During the late 1960's and the 70's, Anne worked at Electro-Mec in Wallingford, CT. She was talented at reading blueprints and enjoyed doing fine work under a microscope. During her later years, Anne devoted much time to her grandchildren. She loved spending time playing games, cooking, reading, singing, and shopping with them. She took several trips with her family, and especially enjoyed rooming with her oldest granddaughter.
