Obituary of Charles Gandarillas

Mr. Charles Peter Gandarillas, 89, of 155 Feldspar Ave., Beacon Falls, died late Friday evening, Aug. 24, 2007 at his home after a long illness. He was the husband of Dolores (Sutton) Gandarillas. Mr. Gandarillas was born in Barre, Vt. Aug. 1, 1918, a son of the late Carlos and Ambrosia (Cobo) Gandarillas and had been a Beacon Falls resident since his youth. He retired from the Homer D. Bronson Co. and the U.S.. Post Office in 1982 after 38 years of service. He was a WW II, U.S. Army veteran and a member of Schaefer-Fischer Post # 25, American Legion and had served as Company Manager of the Legion Drum Corps during the 1950s He also had served as a member of the Beacon Hose Co. # 1 for many years. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Western Hills Golf Course in Waterbury, and enjoyed gardening. Besides his wife of 63 years, he leaves two daughters, Donna Mazzeo, and her husband, Louis of Beacon Falls and Terry DeMarco, and her husband Randal of Phoenix, AZ.; a son Charles Gandarillas and his wife, Carol of Wolcott; two sisters, Ambrosia Talbot and her husband Richard of Northville, Mich. and Louise Bradley of Beacon Falls; two brothers, Serafin "Joe Gandarillas of Trenton, N.J and Manuel "Del Gandarillas and his wife, Rita of Beacon Falls; 5 grandsons, Craig DeMarco and his wife Kris of Phoenix, AZ., Brian DeMarco and his wife Lisa of Flagstaff, AZ, urt Gandarillas of Wolcott, Todd Cole and his wife Paula of Mercerville, NJ, and Keith Gandarillas and his wife Jen of Terryville; 1 great-grandson, Chaz DeMarco of Phoenix, AZ and 1 great-granddaughter, Hailey Gandarillas of Terryville and several nieces and nephews.The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., to St. Michaels Church, 25 Maple Ave., Beacon Falls for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience o the family.
