Obituary of Robert Tobin

Robert J. Tobin, 78, formerly of Richmond Ave., died Sunday at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Phyllis Tobin.Mr. Tobin was born October 7, 1928 in Wilkes Barre, PA the son of the late Katherine Tobin. He was a 1946 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School in Wilkes Barre.Mr. Tobin was a Korean War Army veteran serving in Germany and was a member of the V.F.W. #7330 in Oakville. He was an active member of the Moose Lodge #703 in Wolcott where he played softball and ran the Monday night bingo for several years. He retired from State Dairy after working for various dairies in the area as a milkman. He was a member of the Teamsters Union #677.Mr. Tobin enjoyed bowling with the Good Time Bowling and Watertown Senior Leagues and his daily mall walks. He especially enjoyed CT casinos, traveling, NY Broadway shows, and spending time with his family. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New England Patriots, New York Giants, CT Sun and UCONN Womens Basketball.Mr. Tobin is survived by his son Robert Tobin Jr. of Watertown; two daughters Donna Noel and her husband Donald of Mystic and Sandra Calabrese and her husband Joseph of Oakville; his long time companion Katherine Murphy; four grandchildren Diana Noward and her husband Steve, Marissa Brophy and her husband Patrick, Christopher Troisi, and Robert Tobin III; four great grandchildren Alivia and Joseph Brophy, and Logan and Payton Howard; his loyal friend Cosmos Butch Dadonna, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his stepfather John Doyle, brother James Doyle, and sisters Margaret Vitone and Helen Miller.Arrangements A funeral will be held on Wednesday 9:15 a.m. from the Mulville Funeral Home, 270 West Main St., Waterbury to the Immaculate Conception Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
