Obituary of John Montagna

John Montagna, 85, formerly of South Main St. passed away Sunday morning September 30, 2007. He was the husband of Christine (Vecchio) Montagna. Mr. Montagna was born November 16, 1921 in New Haven the son of the late Francisco and Carmella (Spinelli) Montagna. He was a long time Cheshire resident moving from West Haven in the 1980s. Mr. Montagna was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the 95th Infantry Division. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Besides his wife of over 60 years, Mr. Montagna is survived by his sons Paul and his wife Margie of Cheshire and Ronald and his wife Marianne of Bonita Springs, FL; a brother Vincent Montagna of Branford; four grandchildren, Melanie and Matthew of Cheshire, James of Wallingford and Michael of San Francisco, CA. He is predeceased by his brothers Joseph, Louis, and Ralph and his sisters Lucy, Annette and Anna.Arrangements A funeral service will be held on Thursday October 6, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Slater Funeral Home, 242 S. Main St., Cheshire. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
