Obituary of Jack Sonenstein
LAKE WORTH, FL. - Mr. Jack Sonenstein, 90, of 6850 10th Ave. N, and a former longtime Waterbury, CT. resident, died early Tuesday morning Oct. 2, 2007 at his home. He was the husband of the late Silva (Swirsky) Sonenstein who died in 1992. Mr. Sonenstein was born in New York City, Feb. 3, 1917, a son of the late Alexander and Ettie Sonenstein and was a Florida resident for over 20 years, having lived in Waterbury for more than 30 years. He was the retired General Manager of B. Swirsky Co. of Waterbury, CT. retiring in 1972 after more than 30 years with the company. Prior to moving to Florida, he was an active member of Beth El Synagogue. He leaves two sons, Jeffery Sonenstein of Burlington, CT. and Burton Sonenstein of Baltimore, MD.; 6 grandchildren, Peter Sonenstein, David Sonenstein, Adam Paul, Jamie Paul Weiner, Shannon Sonenstein, Brian Sonenstein; 2 great-grandchildren, Noah Sonenstein and Silva Sonenstein. He was predeceased by a daughter, Elaine (Sonenstein) Paul. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in Brass City Lodge Cemetery, Stillson Rd., Waterbury, CT. There will be no local Shiva. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Ave. is in charge of arrangements.
