Obituary of Ernest Haddad
Mr. Ernest Joseph Haddad, 79, of Waterbury died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday October 8, 2007. He was the husband of Carolyn (Braun) Haddad. Ernie was born in Waterbury on March 2, 1928 son of the late John and Zahai (Shaker) Haddad and lived in Waterbury most of his life. He started his career working in the family grocery store in Watertown, CT. Throughout his career he was the sole proprieter of Haddads Liquor Store, The Sheik Restaurant and Buds Place. He served in the military in the mid 1940s. Until a few months ago Ernie ran a personal car service where he was dedicated to his very loyal customer base. He was the good Samaritan who made sure his customers were well taken care of by coordinating meals on wheels, trips to the doctor, much needed errands and lending an ear in which customers confided. He was loved by all.He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Besides his devoted wife, Ernie is survived by his loving children, Claudia and her husband Kevin Feeney of Concord, MA, Norma and her husband James Purcell of Canton, Corinne and her husband John Mullen of Watertown, Norinne and her husband David Byrne of Cheshire and Buddy and his wife Jennifer Haddad of Huntingburg, IN. He will be missed by his special cousin Naheel. His memory and good spirit will live on through his very dear nine grandchildren, Sarah, Kelly and Jimmy Purcell, Christina and Joseph Feeney, Danielle and Patrick Mullen, Jonathan and Tyler Haddad. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Marshall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 1544 Hamilton Avenue, Waterbury. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
