Obituary of Dorothy Shultz

Dorothy F. Shultz, 100, of The Orchards, 34 Hobart Street, Southington, formerly of Peck Lane in Cheshire, died on Friday, November 16, 2007 in her apartment while under Hospice care. Dorothy was born on April 29, 1907. She was a native of Ambler, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of Drexel Institute (now Drexel University) in Philadelphia and taught home economics at Lansdale High school in Lansdale, PA, until she married and started her family. She was married to a fellow high school teacher, I. Robert M. Shultz, who passed away in September of 1963.Together they raised three children their pre-war family: Ann Keim of Bangor, PA, and Virginia Humphrey of Southington also, formerly of Cheshire; and a post WWII son, Robert Larry Shultz of Burke, VA. Besides her children and their spouses, she leaves nine grandchildren; she lost a tenth grandchild in 1984, and she leaves nine great-grandchildren. She was adored by them and kept a lively correspondence with many of them.Dorothy was an avid reader, gardener and homemaker; loved doing crossword puzzles. She was a past member of the American Association of University Women and current member of The First Congregational Church where she belonged to the Tuesday Circle and the Ladies Guild. When asked why she was blessed with such a long life, shed say she really doesnt know but is grateful and thinks her longevity is partially due to her genes since most of the women in the family lived into their nineties but not past ninety-five. A memorial service will be held this Friday, November 23, 2007, at 2 pm at The First Congregational Church of Cheshire111 Church Drive followed by a reception in the church parlors. There will be no calling hours and interment will follow on Saturday, November 24, at Rosehill Cemetery next to her husband in Upper Dublin, Pennsylvania.
