Obituary of Hugh Cash
Cheshire Hugh P. Cash, 89, of Cheshire, died on December 11, 2007 at the Masomic Health Care Center in Wallingford. He was a Mason and the husband of 64 Years to E. Hoadley Cash, the founder and Headmistress of the Hoadley School (Montessori). Col. Cash was a distinguished and decorated U.S. Air Force retiree of 26 years of service. He was a graduate of West Point Prep. School; during WWII he participated in the liberation of Sicily, Normandy (D-Day), and Holland as a glider piolet and 82nd Airborne troop carrier with the U.S. Army Air Corps. After the war, Col. Cash completed studies at the University of North Carolina under the G.I. Bill in Commerce and Law, and was invited to return to active military service into the newly formed U.S. Air Force. His duties during twenty plus years included J.A.G. officer with the legal operations, and Special Agent with the office of Special Investigations. He also served as a flight instructor and Military Law professor at the Southern Methodist University. Col. Cash participated in the Berlin Airlift operation and the Cubin Missile crisis. Upon retiring from the military, Col. Cash joined the staff of Cheshire Academy. His positions during his 15 years at the academy included Director of Admissions, U.S. History professor, and assistant to the headmaster. Col. Cash is survived by his daughter Elvira D. Pecora and her husband Louis, and their sons Gregory and Kent of Chapel Hill, NC; a daughter Virginia May and her husband David, and their daughter Victoria and son Nicholas of Levittown, NY; son Brian H. Cash and his wife Mary of Murfreesboro, TN; and son Paul J. Cash and his wife Carole of Beaufort, SC.
