Obituary of Peter Demkar
NAUGATUCK- Mr. Peter A. Demkar, 90, of 144 Beacon Manor Circle, Naugatuck, died Friday evening Dec. 21, 2007 at the Highland Health Center in Cheshire. He was the husband of the late Phyllis A. (Lemon) Demkar, who died in 1984.Mr. Demkar was born in Seymour, May 27, 1917, a son of the late Andrew and Anna Demkar and was a graduate of Ansonia High School and Stone College. He was a retired Accountant, having worked for Curtis Packaging and following his retirement, had worked part time for the Beth El Synagogue.. He had also been a resident of Tamarac, Fl. for over 18 years. He was a communicant of St. Michaels Episcopal Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, having served with the 491st Squadron, the 855th Bombardment Group. He had served as a medic in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe. He leaves 3 sons, John Demkar, Barry Demkar, and Jeff Demkar all of Naugatuck; and one daughter, Jane Brough of Cheshire; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Kozey and Mary Kielb Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Pine Grove Cemetery, 15 Church St., Ansonia. Burial with full military honors will follow at the cemetery. Friends may call at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. The Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
