Obituary of Harold Werner
WATERTOWN- Mr. Harold G. Werner, 86, of Watertown, entered into eternal life, surrounded by is family on Monday evening Dec. 24, 2007. He was the husband of Nancy B. (Scott) Werner and the late Ruthhmary (Wiggins)(Zutant) Werner. Mr. Werner was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Rossford, Ohio, a son of the late Henry and Helen (Golder) Werner. He received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1943. Immediately upon graduation, he was employed by the Naugatuck Chemical Division of the U.S. Rubber Co. later, Uniroyal Chemical, now Chemtura, for which he work continuously until his retirement in 1985. Throughout those years, he worked alternately between Chemical Process Control and Research and Development on various types of synthetic rubber in, Institute, W.V., Naugatuck, and Painesville, Oh.He was active with the Naugatuck United Methodist Church and the Naugatuck Council of Churches from 1945 to 1965 when he moved to Ohio. Since returning to Conn. in 1976, he has been active in Trinity Episcopal Church in Waterbury until its closing in 1999, the Greater Waterbury Episcopal Ministry and since 1999 St. Georges Episcopal Church in Middlebury. Besides his wife of 15 years, he leaves one son, Harold Hal Werner of Painesville, OH, a daughter, Judith Buck of Ottawa, Canada; a step-son, Edward Zutant of Waterbury; a brother, Henry G. Werner of Rossford, OH; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, David Werner. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Georges Episcopal Church, Tucker Hill Rd., Middlebury. Burial will be in St. Georges Episcopal Memorial Garden at the convenience of the family. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Ave. is in charge of arrangements.
