Obituary of Selma Raskin
Mrs. Selma (Winick) Raskin, 86 of Waterbury, Ct. died Saturday evening Jan 5, 2008 at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late Abraham Chick Raskin She was the beloved daughter of the late Benjamin and Lena (Axelband) Winick and was raised in Jersey City, N.J. She moved to Connecticut upon her marriage. Her husband was the owner of Raskin Farms, Home of the Happy Hens Mrs. Raskin was an active member of Beth El Synagogue, The Ridgewood Club and Waterbury Hadassah. She was an avid reader and Mahjong player and enjoyed theater and old movies. She leaves behind her many dear friends. Mrs. Raskin is survived by her children, Diane Weiner of Denver Colo., Joel and Grace Raskin of Tiverton, R.I., Paula and Steve London of Sharon, Mass., and Steven and Shari Raskin of Irvine, Cal. She was a loving grandmother to Michael and David Weiner, Andrew and Caroline London, Jeremy and Eli Raskin. She leaves behind her brother, Irving and Marcia Winick of Tucson, Az.; sisters-in-law, Edith Winick of Rochester, N.Y., Bea Schiffres of Boca Raton, Fla., and Norma and Yaakov DeFrancsco of Monsey, N.Y. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Phyllis Raskin, her grandson, Jake Noah Raskin and her brother Sol Winick.Funeral services will be held on Monday Jan. 7th at 12 noon at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Ave. Burial will be in Farband Cemetery, Morris, Ct. Shiva will be observed at her late home, 52 Farmington Ave., Waterbury on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Saturday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Paula London, 7 Foundry Rd, Sharon, Mass.
