Obituary of Werner Hasler

Watertown Werner V. Hasler, 80 formerly of Hickory Lane, passed away Sunday January 20, 2008 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Lynn Karr-Hasler.Mr. Hasler was born April 11, 1927 in Zurich, Switzerland the son of the late Viktor T. and Lydia Hanna Berta (Haerle) Hasler. He was 1946 graduate of Strickhof Agricultural School and finished basic training the following year with the Swiss Army.Mr. Hasler received his diploma in Residential Social Work from the Zurich School of Social Work in Switzerland and later received his Masters Degree in Psychiatric Social Work from Boston University. He was affiliated in the field of Psychiatry with Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, The Institute of Living in Hartford, and later retired in 1996 after 30 years of practice in psychiatry at Waterbury Hospital Health Center. Besides his wife of 17 years, Mr. Hasler is survived by his son Peter Hasler of Waterboro, ME; a stepson Benjamin Hannur and his wife Rachel of Delmar, NY; two daughters Lisa Hasler of Gilmanton, NH and Anna Avizur of Goshen, CT; a step-daughter Polly Hannur of Clifton Park, NY; a brother Frederick Hasler of Geneva, Switzerland; a sister Sonja Rose of Cambridge, England; and two grandchildren. Mr. Hasler is predeceased by his sisters Helen and Elisabeth. Arrangements A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 26, 2008 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Watertown, 40 DeForest St. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Friday January 25, 2008 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Ave.
