Craig & Doreen: Our deepest sympathy go out to you both at this most difficult time. If I had only put two and two together, I would have realized that I had your mother as my teacher probably during her first year of teaching in Cheshire and surely before she was married to your father who also taught me history in 7th grade. What a small world. Again our hearts and prayers go out to you both. Jim & Eileen

My deepest sympathy to Lucille Benson's family. Lucille and 'Uncle Mutt' were loved by all of their students at Humiston and Cheshire High. Many of us who were students at Humiston watched love 'bloom' between Miss Forest and 'Uncle Mutt.' This very special couple will be missed by everyone who knew them.

I send my sincere sympathy to the Benson family. Lucille was a special teacher during my school years in Cheshire. I particularly remember Lucille taking me and three other classmates when we were juniors to the University of Connecticut to check out the campus. We had such a great time. I always enjoyed chatting with her at our reunions. She touched a lot of lives and will certainly be missed. Nancy (Yocher) Trayner Goodyear, Arizona

My deepest sympathy to the family of Lucille Benson. Both Lucille and 'Mutt' were an important part of my youth growing up in Cheshire. They will now be together forever.

Dear Benson family: I knew your parents rather well, beginning in the 1950s when I was a student at Humiston Elementary School. Your mother was my eighth grade teacher, and I was very happy to be in her class. She made learning fun. As a graduate of Cheshire High School, my wife Barbara and I (both Class of '57) invited both your parents to our class reunions, and they attended until our 50th, last year. Your father was deceased, of course; I was one of the mourners who met you at his wake. I am going to be out of town this Saturday and so cannot be at the funeral for your mother. But I am doing two things in remembrance of her. First, I will notify my classmate by email. Second, I send my prayers and fond thoughts of her. She was a good woman.
