Obituary of Elizabeth Camp
Elizabeth Betsey M. Camp, 66, died on February 7, 2008 at St.Vincent Hospital in New York City. Born on July 8, 1941 in Waterbury, she was the daughter of the late Merwin G. and Elizabeth (Campbell) Camp. She grew up in Middlebury; CT and graduated from St. Margarets School (now Chase Collegiate) in Waterbury and Smith College. Upon graduation from Smith College, she moved to New York City where she has resided ever since. Initially she was employed by The Herald Tribunes Book Review section as a reviewer; she also was head writer for the Jeopardy TV show when it was based in NYC, for which she was nominated for an Emmy; and most recently worked for the American Foundation for the Blind. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Cornelia G. and Nicholas B. Mason of Simsbury; two aunts, Margaret C. Warner of Nantucket, MA, and Polly O. Camp of Southbury and many cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 11:00 am at Middlebury Congregational Church, 1242 Whittemore Road, Middlebury, CT. There are no calling hours. Burial will take place in Middleubry Cemetery in the spring. Alderson Funeral Home 70 Central Ave, Waterbury, CT is in charge of the arrangements.
