Obituary of Ruth Sigal
Mrs. Ruth Beatrice (Lichter) Sigal, 92, of Waterbury, died Friday Feb. 15, 2008 at the Abbott Terrace Health Center. She was the widow of David Sigal. Mrs. Sigal was born in New Haven, Mar. 15, 1915, a daughter of the late Nathan and Rose (Calechman) Lichter and was a resident of Waterbury for over 60 years. She and her late husband were the owners of Modern Curtain Shop retiring in the late 70s after more than 40 years in business, serving the greater Waterbury community. She was educated in the New Haven school system and was a graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven. She was a member of Beth El Synagogue. She leaves two daughters, Carolyn Matzkin of Waterbury and Susan Denison of New York City and Sarasota, Fl.; one brother, Dr. Harvey Lichter of Orange and one sister, Sylvia Zitser of Boynton Beach, Fl.; 2 grandchildren, Nancy Matzkin Natelli of New York City and Atty. Bruce Matzkin of East Haven; one great-granddaughter, Mia Natelli of New York City and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2008, 12 noon at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Avenue. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Hebrew Benefit Cemetery, Waterbury. Shiva will be observed at the home of her daughter Carolyn Matzkin, 102 Stephana Lane on Sunday following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Red Cross- Waterbury Area Chapter, 64 Holmes Ave., Waterbury, 06710 or to a charity of the donors choice.
