Obituary of Hannah Jacobs-Gay

Mrs. Hannah (Finkel) Jacobs-Gay, 63, of 1183 Notch Rd., Cheshire, died Saturday February 16, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Waterbury. She was the wife of Robert E. Gay and the widow of William Jacobs. Mrs. Jacobs-Gay was born in Waterbury, June 20, 1944, a daughter of the late Nathan and Martha (Shultz) Finkel and had been a resident of Cheshire for over 30 years. She was a graduate of the University of Conn. and obtained her Masters and 6th year Certificate at Southern Conn. State University. She was employed as a Teacher in the Waterbury school system for over 32 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of Congregation Kol Ami where she served as Secretary of the Synagogue. Besides her husband of 26 years, she leaves one daughter, Sara Manning and her husband Thomas of Cheshire, two brothers, Richard Finkel and his wife, Sharyn Zuch of Simsbury, and Harold Finkel and his fianc, Linda Bryant of Plano, TX.; one grandson, Nathan Manning of Cheshire and several nieces and nephews, including, Kim McCormick, Biran Garland, Alsia Garland , Eric Garland, Jessica Finkel, Matthew Finkel, David Finkel and Jeffery Finkel. She was predeceased by a grandson, Jacob Manning.Funeral services will be held on Monday Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. at Congregation Kol Ami, 1484 Highland Ave., Cheshire. Burial will follow in Hebrew Benefit Cemetery, Stillson Rd., Waterbury. Shiva will be observed at the Manning residence,60 Brittney Ct.,Cheshire on Monday following the funeral, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. .The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire is in charge of arrangements.
