Obituary of Donald Beck

WATERBURY- Mr. Donald LeVern Beck, 74, of 25 Abbott Terrace, Waterbury, died early Tuesday morning Feb. 26, 2008 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was the husband of the late Shirley R. (Bloom) Beck who died in 2004 after 49 years of marriage. Mr. Beck was born in Liberty, Pa., Aug. 20, 1933, a son of the late Emerson and Lydia Claire (Taylor) Beck and had been a Naugatuck resident for over 40 years, prior to moving to Waterbury 3 years ago. He had formerly worked for Risdon Mfg. Co. in Naugatuck and later at Uniroyal World Headquarters in Middlebury, prior to his retirement. He was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Navy stationed aboard the USS Hoist. He was a former member of the Naugatuck Auxiliary Police and the Naugatuck Fire-Police. He leaves 3 sons, Donald Beck and his wife Michelle, Dean Beck and Douglas Beck and his wife Sherri all of Naugatuck; 2 daughters, Darlene Lupachino and her husband Vinnie of Waterbury and Debra Fortin and her husband Robert of Naugatuck; one sister, Pat Sunderland of Trout Run, Pa.; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Friday at 8:30 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. to the State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown for a graveside service at 9:15 a.m. with full military honors. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bible Church, 240 Dwight St., Waterbury. There are no calling hours .
