Obituary of Ruth Melillo

SOUTHINGTON, CT- Ruth Lillian (Diggles) Melillo, 92, died Monday, February 25, 2008, at Southington Care Center in Southington. Ruth was the widow of Harry A. Woods of Hamden and John Melillo of North Haven..Ruth was born October 10, 1915 in Hartford, a daughter of the late Edward and Anna Diggles. She was a lover of animals, an avid gardener and good at crafts and a World traveler. Ruth was also active in the North Haven Senior Center and the North Haven Gardening Club. She resided in North Haven for many years before moving to Cheshire in 2000.She worked for many companies including Tallon, H.B. Ives and A.C Gilberts as a production associate. Before her retirement in 1978, and was a secretary for Elm City Auto Wrecking.Ruth leaves two daughters, Diane Link and her husband Kenneth of Guilford and Judith Scott and her husband Edward of Cheshire, six grandchildren; Cynthia Tangredi and her husband Ralph of Wallingford, Kathleen Aldrich and her husband Michael of Cheshire, Kenneth Link, Jr. of Meriden, Rebecca Patino and her husband Mauricio of Guilford, Shannon Howard and her husband Barry of Ansonia and Christopher Scott of Wallingford, and 13 great grandchildren..A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Cheshire.Anyone interested in attending should call Ruths family members. There are no calling hours. The Slater Funeral Home 242 South Main St. Cheshire is in charge of arrangements.
