Obituary of Jewett Schrumm

Wallingford - Jewett F. Schrumm of Ashlar Village, Wallingford died peacefully at home on February 28th after a brief illness. He was born February 24, 1922 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late Margaret (Reihl) Schrumm and the late Jewett Schrumm. He was the husband of Barbara (Stryker) (Pratt) Schrumm, the late Frances (Bryk) (Lange) Schrumm and the late Eleanor (Wenkert) Schrumm. Mr. Schrumm attended Leavenworth High School in Waterbury and the University of New Haven. Most of his career was spent in sales engineering for the aerospace and consumer products industries. He was the founder and President of the Tech Sales Reps Company until his retirement.Before moving to Wallingford, he was a resident of Cheshire for forty six years. He was a longtime and active member of Cheshire Lutheran Church and served in several church council offices. He was a member of Masonic Temple Lodge #16 A.F. and A.M. of Cheshire for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife Barbara and four children, Eleanor S. Garlow and her husband David of New York City, Eric W. Schrumm of Washington, D.C., David C. Schrumm and his wife Sally of Cheshire and Jonathan W. Schrumm and his wife Eva of Cheshire, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister Margaret S. Hill of Southbury.Arrangements Funeral services will be held on Monday March 3, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Cheshire Lutheran Church, 660 W. Main St. Cheshire. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Slater Funeral Home, 242 S. Main St., Cheshire.
