Obituary of Daniel Mattis

Mr. Daniel Leo Mattis, 81, of Cheshire died Sunday March 2, 2008 at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Emily (Hotchkiss) Mattis. Mr. Mattis was born April 14, 1926 in Mount Carmel, Pa. a son of the late Stefan and Mary (Ferenz) Mattis. He was educated in Mount Carmel, Pa. schools and was a retired machinist having worked at Eldorado Tool and General Electric. He was the former owner of the Valley View Inn in New Hampshire and had also worked at the Mount Washington Hotel for many years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Audubon Society. Besides his wife, he leaves his step daughter Dale Cuomo of Cheshire, his brother, Emil Mattis of Yonkers, NY, his sisters, Mary Phaffenberger of Willimantic, Ruth Petruski of Florida and Emily Boggs of Virginia, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his son-in-law Jeffrey Hamel of Cheshire. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours.
