Obituary of Robert Lowell
Cheshire - Robert E. Lowell, a Cheshire resident for 35 years died on March 7, 2008. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on June 24, 1912, he spent his formative years in Palmer, MA, where he met and married Clyde Francis Mumford, who preceded him in death. Bob graduated from Dartmouth College and Tuck School of Business in 1935. The same year he joined U.S. Rubber Company in Naugatuck and in 1977 retired from Uniroyal in Oxford, CT as vice president of industrial relations. He married Janice Riley in 1980 and enjoyed many years of travel, entertaining and visiting family before her death. A member of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, he also served on the Uniroyal Salaried Retirees Action Committee.Surviving Robert E. Lowell are his son Robert K. Lowell and his wife Pamela of Ridgefield, CT, his daughter Virginia Vetere of Davie, FL, his son, Brian Lowell of Stoughton, WI, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Arrangements - A memorial service will be held at the Elim Park, 140 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire, in the Chapel on March 20, 2008 at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. The Slater Funeral Home of Cheshire is in charge of arrangements.
