Obituary of Lonnie Duke

West Haven - Lonnie M . Duke Jr. 56 died Monday March 10 2008 at the Hospital of St.Raphael in New Haven. He was the husband of Suzanne (Slenker) Duke.Mr.Duke was born September 10,1951 in Houston TX. He was the son of the late Lonnie M. Duke Sr. and Gloria (ONeal) Duke. Lonnie was the owner and consultant of the Nia Solutions Corp. in Cheshire. He earned a Masters degree in Public Health from Southern Connecticut State University and a Bachelors degree from Clark University in Worcester MA. Lonnie was an advisor to Governor Michael Ducacus of MA. He was also an assistant to Paul Pena , Bonnie Rait and Jackson Brown. Besides his wife, Lonnie is survived by one son Gordon D. Duke of Santa Monica CA. He is also survived by his two neighbors Robert Graham and Sally Graveline, who lovingly cared for him in his last months. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday March 15 at 2:00 pm. at the Slater Funeral Home, 242 South Main Street, Cheshire. There are no calling hours. Lonnies father was a member of the Triple Nickel, the first African American Infantry Battalion in the nation.
