Obituary of Stephen Esq

WATERBURY - Stephen A. Ruskin, Esq., beloved husband, father and grandfather of 157 Maybrook Road, died Monday, September 15, 2008 at New York University Medical Center. He was 79 years old. He died from complications from heart surgery. Mr. Ruskin was born on June 11, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York. He moved to Waterbury with his parents, the late Joseph and Majorie Ruskin, when he was a young boy. Mr. Ruskin was a graduate of the Taft School, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Connecticut Law School. He was a lieutenant in the Air Force and a veteran of the Korean War. He began his career in the insurance business and then joined the family retail business at Ruskins in downtown Waterbury. After graduating from law school at the age of 40, he began the practice of law and became a partner at the law firm of Moynahan & Ruskin. He is survived by his wife, Lois Savin Ruskin; his daughter, Dr. Susan Ruskin Friend, her husband David Friend and their three children Michael, Daniel, and William; his daughter Marcia Ruskin Scognamiglio, her husband Joseph Scognamiglio and their daughter Rebecca; and his daughter Beth Ruskin Weiler, her husband Fred Weiler, and their three children Matthew, Emily and Shelli. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Avenue, Burial will be at Farband Cemetery in Morris, CT. Shiva services will be held this week at the family home at 157 Maybrook Road on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 pm.
