Obituary of Sheila Tyrrell
Sheila Largay Tyrrell, 67, of Middlebury, died peacefully on Tuesday after an extended illness. Mrs. Tyrrell was born on Jan. 12, 1942 in Waterbury, CT. She was one of six children of the late Thomas V. and Catherine (Cally) (Sullivan) Largay of Middlebury. Mrs. Tyrrell is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Peter; a daughter, Kristin Tyrrell Burch and her husband Craig of Winston-Salem, NC; and a grandson, Benjamin Burch. She is further survived by a sister, Catherine McCarthy of Arlington, VA; a brother, George Largay of Norcross, GA; aunts, Catherine and Ann Largay; uncles, Roland and Charles Largay and Francis O'Brien; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and David and a sister, Betsey. Mrs. Tyrrell is a graduate of St. Margaret' School, Manhattanville College and Fairfield University. She taught French for ten years at Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, CT. She was an avid golfer, tennis player, reader and a communicant of St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury. Mrs. Tyrrell was a loyal, loving and dedicated wife, sister, niece and mother. Funeral services for Mrs. Tyrrell will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Mulville Funeral Home 270 West Main Street to Saint John of the Cross Church 1089 Whittemore Road in Middlebury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Old Saint Joseph Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
