Obituary of Adela Landau
BEDFORD, NH- Mrs.Adela (Lipsez) Landau, 88, of 37 Ridgewood Rd., Bedford, NH, died early Sunday morning May 24, 2009 at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. She was the wife of Edward Landau.
Mrs. Landau was born in the Ukraine, May 2, 1921, daughter of the late Jacob and Veronica Lipsez. She had been a resident of Bedford for the past 2 years, moving here from Watertown, CT where she had resided with her husband from 1952 through 2007. She was a graduate of the University system in Russia earning a degree in Chemistry, and retired from McDermid Corp. of Waterbury in 1987 after 20 years of service. She had developed a copper plating process that was patented by McDermid and is still in use today. She was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel of Southbury, a member of the Jewish Federation of Western Conn. and was a Holocaust Survivor.
Besides her husband of 60 years, she leaves one son, Victor Landau of Newmarket, NH; one daughter, Barbara Landau Mullin and husband, George Mullin of Amherst, NH and 4 grandchildren: Katherine Landau, Jessica Landau, Sean Mullin, Scott Mullin and his fiancée, Sarah Frisbie.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 12 noon, at Temple B'Nai Israel, 444 Main St. North, Southbury. Burial will follow in Farband Cemetery, Morris. The Alderson Funeral home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave is in charge of arrangements.
