Aunt Manuela was an inspiration to me. She was a person who lived her faith and believed in teaching by example. She was also a defender and protector of the innocent. She had a strong family bond with her brothers and sisters. To me she had an attitude that was "Don't talk about it; just do it." And that she did: raised a family, started a business, rode a motorcyle, made trips abroad, got a college degree. Those are just some of the things that I'm aware of. I know there is a lot more. She rose from her beginnings in a family of near poverty after their father died at an early age to be an educated well respected member of her community. I offer my sincere condolences to her son Rocky who was the light of her life and her daughter Mary Jane and all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren who are each grieving in their own way. I just want to let them know that I appreciate everything she did for me and in my family's behalf when I was a child growing up. I thank them for sharing her with me. I am so proud that she was my godmother.
