Obituary of Manuela Magnanimo

NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Manuela (Capobianco) Magnanimo, 89, of 192 Meadow St., Naugatuck and North Miami Beach, Fl., died Friday afternoon July 3, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of the late Rocco Magnanimo, Sr. who died in 1979 after 38 years of marriage. Mrs. Magnanimo was born in Waterbury Jan. 17, 1920, a daughter of the late Angelo and Mary (Marino) Capobianco and had been a Naugatuck resident since 1941, moving here from Waterbury. She was the owner of Manuela's Bridal Shoppe which she founded in 1945 and operated for over 45 years, until her retirement in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of the Catholic Council of Women. She was also a member and Past President of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer at the Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Emblem Club of Naugatuck and a member of the Christopher Colombo Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Pointe East Community in North Miami Beach, Fl. She leaves one son, Rocco Magnanimo, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Naugatuck; one daughter Mary Jane Iannucci and her husband Ronald of Naugatuck; two sisters, Theresa Santos and Rose Capobianco both of Waterbury; 6 grandchildren, Rebecca Magnanimo, Daniel Magnanimo, Gianna Iannucci-Berger, Ronald Iannucci, Rocco Iannucci and Dominic Iannucci and 3 great-grandchildren, Michael Berger, Jonathon Berger, and Matthew Berger. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:15 am from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. to S. Francis of Assisi Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 pm.
