Obituary of Leo Tylec

DR. LEO L. TYLEC, M.D. BRIGHTON, MA- Dr. Leo L. Tylec, M.D., 99, of Brighton, MA and Naples, FL, Passed away Thursday Sept. 16, 2010 at the Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley, MA. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Reilly) Tylec, who died in 1997 after almost 55 years of marriage. Dr. Tylec was born in Meriden, April 16, 1911, the third of nine children of the late Louis and Mary (Liber) Tylec and been a resident of Brighton since moving there in 2006. Following his marriage he resided in Naugatuck, later moving to Waterbury and maintaining a winter home in Naples, Florida. He was a graduate of Meriden High School, Virginia Polytechnic College and earned his medical degree from The Medical College of Virginia. .Following his graduation, he served his internship and residency at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a Captain with the 98th Portable Surgical Hospital. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Asiatic-Pacific-Service Medal, the American Service Medal, the WW II Victory Medal and the American Defense Medal. Following his discharge he opened a Family Medical practice in Naugatuck which he served until his retirement in 1985, after 47 years in practice. He had served on the medical staff of both St. Mary's and Waterbury Hospitals. He then made his permanent residence, Naples, FL. While an area resident he was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck and St. William Church in Naples, Fl. he had been a member of the Quail Run Golf Club in Naples and the Country Club of Waterbury. He leaves his three children; two sons, Jeffrey L Tylec of Millerville, MD, and Dr. William J. Tylec, of Waterbury, CT ; one daughter, Lane C. Tylec of Brighton, MA; one brother, Fred Tylec of Cap Coral, FL; one sister, Frances Cichowski of Storrs, CT. and 2 grandchildren, Christopher Tylec and Laurie Tylec. His funeral will be held on Monday at 10:15 am. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St and proceed to St. Francis of Assisi Church 318 Church St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 10155 Crestridge Center, 10155 York Rd., Cockeysville, MD 21030.
