Obituary of Doris Toller

CHESHIRE - Doris A. (Schmeltz) Toller, 88, passed away January 27, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was the wife of the late William H. Toller Jr. Mrs. Toller was born October 28, 1922 in New York, NY, the daughter of the late Raymond and Adele (Manning) Schmeltz. She was a resident of Kansas City, MO where she worked for the federal government issuing farmers credit. From 1948 until 1967 she lived in West Virginia where she volunteered her time collecting toys for underprivileged children at Christmas time. She was also active in St. Joseph's parish. She moved to Cheshire in 1967 where she joined the Women's Club and was known for her poetry. In 1996 she moved to West Hartford and then to Bloomfield in 2008 where she became part of the Seabury community participating in the Seabury Chorus. Those close to her will remember her for her love of being with friends and family. Mrs. Toller is survived by her son William R. Toller and his wife Mary of Springfield, MA, John Toller and his wife Mary of Greenville, NC, Paul J. Toller of Cheshire, Robert E. Toller and his wife Patti of Portland, CT; her daughter Anne M. Toller of Overland Park, KS; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister Sr. Michaela Schmeltz. Arrangements - A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday February 1, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church 175 Main St., Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S.
