Obituary of Glenn Bothroyd
CHESHIRE - Glenn Charles Bothroyd Sr., 79, a lifelong Cheshire resident, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012, lovingly surrounded by his family and friends. He was the husband of Jeanette (Amundsen) Bothroyd.
Glenn was born March 14, 1933 in Waterbury, son of the late Charles and Victoria (John) Bothroyd.
Besides his wife of 38 years, Glenn is survived by three sons, Glenn Jr. and his wife Vicki (Kennedy) Bothroyd of Coventry, Thomas Bothroyd of Coventry, Matthew Bothroyd of Southington; six daughters Mary and her husband Ron Kuhn of Melbourne, FL, Martha and her husband Elias Najjar of East Haven, Deborah (Searfoss) and her husband Richard Sozanski of Wethersfield, Karen (Searfoss) Hotham of Southington, Michelle (Searfoss) and her husband Paul Wordell of East Haddam, and Melissa and her husband Michael Michalski of Moodus; twenty eight grandchildren and spouses, thirteen great grandchildren; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Delores Amundsen of Garner, NC and many extended family and friends.
Glenn loved being with family and friends. He was a long-time member of Cheshire Lutheran Church. He was a quiet adventurer who rode motorcycles and flew airplanes. He enjoyed sports, traveling, reading, spending time at his cabin, and ushering at the Shubert Theater.
This hard-working man loved operating Bothroyd Landscaping and Snowplowing Services together with his youngest son. Nearly 50 years ago he'd started this local business with his older sons.
Glenn was always a care-giver, and his kindness, helpfulness, honesty and calm demeanor will always be remembered.
Arrangements - Glenn's funeral will be held Monday, May 14, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Cheshire Lutheran Church, 660 West Main St. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S.
