Obituary of David Harrison

DANBURY - David C. Harrison, 63, passed away peacefully Sunday May 8, 2011 at his home. David was born November 10, 1947 in Danbury, the son of the late William Edwin "Ed" and Marjorie (Smith) Harrison. He was a lifelong Danbury area resident who raised his children in New Fairfield and treasured summers spent in Candlewood Shores in Brookfield. He was the owner and operator of the W.F. Tomlinson Co. in Danbury and the New Fairfield Funeral Home. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Danbury, and over the years held leadership positions in many community organizations including Danbury Rotary, the American Red Cross, and the Danbury Jaycees. Dave is survived by his son Michael Harrison of New Fairfield, CT; his daughter Cindy Harrison Mahoney and her husband Brian of New Rochelle, NY; his sister Marjorie "Marnie" Oakes and her husband Alan of Boxborough, MA; his granddaughter Carly Reese Mahoney; his former wife and mother to his children, Joan Harrison Boughton of Boynton Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Monday May 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 25 West St., Danbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Wooster Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Funeral Home, 247 White St., Danbury. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the John A. Coleman School , 317 North Street, White Plains, NY 10605 or to the Friends of the Danbury Library, P.O. Box 3913, Danbury, CT 06813. The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.
