I had just learned this weekend, and am sorry to hear of, Sterling Jewett's passing. Although my immediate family was only able to meet Sterling once or twice through the Cheshire Historical Society, he left a lasting impression on us. Our family's thoughts and prayers are with you.

I feel very fortunate to have known Sterling. I first met him while working as an RCA at Pond Ridge. He was an amazing fellow with so much to give. He always had something going on for the residents,it will not be the same without him. He would get off the elevator with Sally, and his fishing gear and always said Sally caught all the fish. They were like two peas in a pod, always doing things. I went to Pond Ridge today at 2pm for the memorial service, but was told they had it at 10:30 this morning. I am so sorry I missed it. The RCA's said there was going to be another one July 1st. I will come to that one. My deepest condolences to Sterlings Family for their great loss. He will never be forgotten,to know him was to love him!!!! May he rest in peace. Heaven is a better place with him in it. Patty Matos RCA

Dear Barbie & Lynn & family, Your Dad was indeed an inspiration to all, and showed that no matter what your age, you can continue to make a difference. What a wonderful life he had & shared with so many. It's hard to have that special someone gone, but the memories are invaluable and will help with the healing. Lots of love, Sandra

Dear Barb, Lynn and family: I have had the absolute pleasure of knowing you and your dad for 35 years. I remember your beautiful home, how welcome I always felt by your mom and dad, and it was my pleasure to visit with your dad several times at the Masonic home when I was there for meetings, I had the pleasure of having lunch with him and seeing his paintings when I visited him. Both times, he had someone take our picture together. The last time I was there, he was at a doctor appointment, so we missed each other. He sent me a lovely flower picture that he had in his collection, one of a flower bouquet in a glass, and I shall think of him every time I look at it. He always said to me, " Thanks for being Barb's friend"...well, it is a pleasure to know and be a friend to not just Barb, but Sterling, Jean, and Lynn, too. God Bless, and thank God for a man like Sterling in all of our lives. Love, Carey

I wish to extend my condolences to your family on the loss of such a special person. I used to hire Sterling to provide entertainment at nursing homes I worked at. He was very special. He once gave me a quick lesson on how to waltz properly which is a very charming memory to have. He used to rehearse with a flute player that I worked with at one place I worked and also saw him perform with the Bristol Old Time Fiddlers. I was always impressed with how he brought his wife along to the performances I hired him for. He was extremely dedicated, which really warmed my heart. Later on, he also befriended my Mother-in-Law when she moved into her apartment at Masonic in Wallingford. His friendship to her helped motivate her to take up the piano again after several years and brought much joy to her life while adjusting to moving into a new phase of her life. I enjoyed reminiscing with him while visiting at Masonic and seeing whatever he was up to at that moment-between his music and painting. Quite an extraordinary man! I will miss him.

Dear Lynn and Ray, We are so sorry to hear about your father's passing. He was a wonderful man with a zest for life and an entertainers heart. I can still picture He and my daughter Teri as they performed the flea circus every night on the channel 8 news previews with Ken Benett.

To the family of Sterling Jewett, My deepest condolences for your loss. I have so many warm thoughts as I recall my interactions with this wonderful, genuine man. I first met him in the fall of 2008 when we featured him in our 'CT People Making a Difference' show at WTNH-TV. We had an instant connection being that my mother's side of the family are Jewetts too! A few months later I received one of his paintings as a gift...a co-worker had "commissioned him" to paint a replica of one of my wedding pictures from earlier that year. It is gorgeous and holds a special place in our home, where we proudly tell guests the story of Sterling and his artwork!! I feel honored to have met such a beautiful person, and blessed to have his painting as a lasting reminder of his kindness and zest for living. Rest in peace dear Sterling.

To the family of Sterling Jewett - Our Mother, Helen Ricci, was a resident @ Pondridge for eight years and she loved to sing to the accompaniment of your Father on piano. They were great friends up and to the end of her life in August of last year. He brought much joy to her and my brothers and I will always be grateful to him for that. Please accept our sincere sympathy. The family of Helen Ricci.

My sincerest condolence to Sterling's family. I have always thought the world of both your Dad and Mom. To tell you of the impact Sterling had on me. 36 years ago, I let my boyfriend drive my car and he had an accident. Sterling went up one side of me and down the other. I still don't let anyone drive my cars! Like my sister, Sterling had a huge impact on me at grange. Especially with the youth degree team. Your parents were kind, funny, sincere people. They will truly be missed. Janet Hale

Our condolences go out to the family. Our son Aidan, who is a third grade student in the Yalesville School in Wallingford, was able to get to know Mr. Jewett through the pen pal program. He took great care and shared about his life growing up in the area and how different it was back then. He also shared his interests and hobbies and asked the same of Aidan. It appears that he lived a full life and we hope that there will be comfort in those memories.

Dear Lynn and the rest of your family, I'm so sorry to read about your dad. I don't care what age they are, it is still sad when they leave us. I just loved your parents especially your dad. He was such a big part of my life in Grange. Your dad, Frank Warner, Carlton Platt, and Dwayne Wetmore were so involved with the young people in New Haven County Grange. A couple of years we even had our Christmas party at your folks house. Sterling was so funny, very talented, just a great person. I am so glad to have had him in my life! With deepest sympathy, Nancy Hale Lehigh Acres, FL
