Obituary of Walter Solberg

NAUGATUCK- Mr. Walter A. Solberg, Jr., 32, of Naugatuck, passed away on Thursday Aug. 25, 2011 in New Haven. Walter was born in Waterbury, a son of Debra (Beck) (Solberg) Fortin and Walter A. Solberg, Sr. and had been a Naugatuck resident most of his life. He was educated in the local school system and was a veteran of the Gulf War having served in the U.S. Navy. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Navy "E" Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Medal, the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Expert Pistol Shot Medal. Besides his Mother and his father, both of Naugatuck, he leaves his Step-father, Robert Fortin of Naugatuck and his Step-Mother, Lori Solberg of Naugatuck; 2 sons, Jordon Solberg of Waterbury and Anthony Solberg of Torrington; 2 daughters Jasmine Solberg of Waterbury and Alexandra Solberg of Torrington; 5 brothers, Robert J. Fortin of Stamford, Matthew Solberg, Christopher Solberg, Kyle Solberg, and Daniel Solberg all of Naugatuck and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday evening, Aug. 30, 22011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be on Friday Sept. 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the State Veterans' Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, 06457 with full military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Walter A.
