Obituary of Ruth Q. Harris
WATERTOWN- Ruth Mary (Quigley) (Breithaupt) Harris, 99, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully Monday, October 27, 2014, at Apple Rehab in Watertown. She was the widow of the late William H. Harris.
Ruth was born in Waterbury to the late Frederick and Ida (Belanger) Quigley. She was a secretary at Scovill Manufacturing for many years before residing in Virginia with her husband William. Ruth loved reading, the theatre, concerts, and symphonies. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and sense of humor.
Ruth leaves her loving daughters Georgia Sheron-Howard and Lynn Dayton, both of Waterbury, along with seven grandchildren, Lyle Schreiber of Oxford, Kerry Sheron of California, Jaime Gilnack of Bethlehem, Cathy Lambert of Wisconsin, Mary Jacques of Wolcott, Jennifer Dayton of Danbury, and Meg Drury of North Carolina; five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Bobby Sheron of Waterbury, a brother, William Quigley of Watertown, and a sister Jeanne (Quigley) Bastian of Nevada.
Arrangements-Calling hours for Ruth will be Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Avenue, from 5 P.M. until the time of prayer service at 6:30 P.M. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Hospital, P.O Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508.
