Obituary of Edmund M. Campion Jr.
CHESHIRE- Edmund M.(Ned) Campion, Jr., age 64, of Fort Mill, SC passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 5th, 2015 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Mary (Warner) Campion.
Mr. Campion was born May 8th, 1950 in Waterbury, CT, the only son of the late Edmund M. Campion Sr. and his wife Margaret (Sheehy) Campion.
Mr. Campion, formerly of Cheshire and Plantsville, was a parishioner at St. Bridget Church. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching UCONN women’s basketball. Mr Campion graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, CT and from Providence College. He was employed by Connecticut Housing Finance Authority until his retirement. Post retirement, Ned returned to his roots as an EMT and livery driver at Campion Ambulance. This was truly a labor of love for him. In his free time, Ned found joy in being the number #1 fan of his children and precious grandchildren. He was fast becoming an expert on figure skating and u12 girls soccer. His amazing support of his grand kids will be sorely missed. Ned had many roles in his life but perhaps his favorite was his job as the "unofficial" Mayor of Physique Plus Fitness Center in Cheshire. The 5am to 6:30 shift will likely never be the same. Above all, Ned's loving relationship with his wife Mary is what he treasured the most. They enjoyed traveling, cruising and partying with a wonderful circle of family and friends. Ned recently fulfilled a lifelong goal and dream of relocating to sunny South Carolina to start the next chapter of his life.
Besides his loving wife of 41years, Edmund leaves; two sons: Edmund "Ned" M Campion III and his wife Lisa of Cheshire, CT, Greg M. and Whitney Campion of Charlotte, NC; Edmund was the brother of four sisters, Nan and Paul Bouche of Falmouth, MA, Jane And Paul Olore of Southington, CT, Marianne and the late William Fish of Southington, CT, Elizabeth and Richard Marshall of Middletown, CT. He also leaves his grandchildren, Caroline and Catherine Campion of Cheshire, CT; Charlie and Maggie Campion of Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Lois Warner of Jupiter, FL; Sister in law, Patricia McLean of Bristol, CT; Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cathy and Fran Woodruff of Watertown, CT; Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Frank Cooper of Glastonbury, CT. Additionally, Ned leaves behind his loving stepmother Maureen (Corden) Campion as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Carolina Medical Center in Pineville, NC, for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
