Ernie and I go way back. I first met him at St Francis College in Maine. He was an upperclassman and I was a freshman. We became good friends while he was there. After I graduated from college I enlisted into the army reserve and we met up again and spent several years together. After leaving the Reserves several years passed and I became the girls basketball coach at Hillside middle school in Naugatuck. I go to Wolcott to play against Alcott middle school and there's Ernie on the sidelines coaching. We had a lot of fun coaching against each other for several years. After our games the girls would get together and have snacks. Only Ernie! I am a better person for having known him. I am so sorry for your loss! I regret that I am unable to attend the service but know he is in a better place probably setting up some kind of fun activity. My best memory will be that whenever I saw him he always greeted me with a smile.

Carol...my deepest sympathy on your loss. I was saddened when I read of Ernie's passing. Time goes by and we didn't see one another often but Ernie was a very special part of my younger life. His mom and mine were what I would refer to as best friends and we were all so very close growing up. I have many memories of all of us together and I especially remember most recently celebrating with both of you and my brother Vinnie and family and friends where we all shared a good time and so many memories of days past. I'll prefer to remember him that way. Again my sympathy as I keep you and Ernie in my thoughts and prayers❤ Susan Dorso McGrath

Carol, my sincere condolence on Ernie's passing. He was a wonderful, kind gentleman. He gave much to our country, community and Christian family. I'm sure he walked right into Heaven and is receiving his reward for a "life well lived". He will be missed by many including myself and my family.

Carol -
WOW... what a loss to our community whether it be the Democratic Party, VFW, or St. Thomas Becket, or all the other community organizations he was involved in. Kind of knocks the wind out of anyone that had the pleasure of knowing and working with Ernie. A consummate and effective leader and a thoroughly congenial gentleman to be around and interact with. My sincere condolences on the loss of such a wonderful individual.
Warm Regards,
Bob

Dear Carol,
My deepest, heartfelt sympathies to you and all of your extended family. Your great loss is shared by so many in the Cheshire community who have worked closely with Ernie and who have benefitted from his decades of public service. In all the many roles that Ernie played, I will most fondly envision him as the ever present and friendly 9:30 greeter at Sunday Mass at St. Thomas Becket. May we all be left with gratitude for Ernie's life...a life well lived.
Peace,
Pat
