Obituary of Gerald P. Corcoran

CHESHIRE- Gerald P. Corcoran, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his wife Adoria (Drouin) Corcoran in 2016 after 55 years of marriage.

He was born March 8, 1932 in New Haven, the son of the late John Francis and Ella (Kinsella) Corcoran.

Mr. Corcoran was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a graduate of New Haven Teacher's College (SCSU) and the University of Connecticut where he received advanced degrees in Special Education, Guidance, and Administration.  Gerald worked for the Cheshire Board of Education as a teacher, guidance counselor, vice principal, and principal prior to his retirement. After retirement, Jerry enjoyed living life with his beloved wife Dori as they traveled the world and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Gerald is survived by his children, Gerald D. and his wife Wendy Corcoran of Santa Clara, CA, Tara L. Corcoran of Cheshire, Matthew E. and his wife Monika E. Corcoran of Cheshire, Deidre A. Corcoran of Stonington, and John R. Corcoran of Cheshire; two brothers John “Jack" Corcoran of Wallingford, and Daniel Corcoran of Danbury; and his grandchildren Jason, Kayla, and Hannah Hipona; Kyra Corcoran; Travis Daly; Michael and Erich Corcoran; and David and James Rochford. Besides his wife, Mr. Corcoran was predeceased by his daughter Kathleen Hipona.

Arrangements- Calling Hours for Mr. Corcoran will be held from 5 to 7 P.M, Monday, May 21, 2018 at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410. Gerald’s funeral will start Tuesday, May 22, 2018 9:15 A.M from the funeral home and proceed to St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St, Cheshire, 06410 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Donations in his name can be made to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT, 06111.
