HOW LUCKY I AM THAT RICHARD WAS MY NEIGHBOR!
When he was mobile, he went to Peters II for breakfast every AM. Had a special seat at the counter, and his picture on the wall. In the afternoons I'd see him sitting on the park bench (Sheryl got him somewhere) looking at the pond, and I would go over and chat.
Wish Id gone over more. He was very calming.
Sometimes I'd smell something delicious, it was Richard cooking a hot dog on his grill that Sheryl got somewhere. Then when he couldn't walk all the way to the waters edge with his outside walker, Sheryl got somewhere, , he would sit out front, and after I retired I would take a break form weeding, and go sit on those white chairs that Sheryl got somewhere, and we'd watch the world go by on Rt. 10 and talk about the neighborhood.
Wish I'd gone over more. He knew everything about the neighbors.
Then when it was too much trouble to get out with his wheelchair, I would go visit him inside, but not seeing him out to remind me to visit, I didn't go to often.
Wish I'd gone over more. He'd talk about his family.
He was lucky to have a grand daughter clean for him, and grocery shop for him and stop by and visit even bringing her boyfriend on his Birthday.
And then to have another granddaughter bring her new baby over for visits. How proud he was to see his great grand daughter and her mom.
He also was proud and loved his grand children that didn't live close by. He would tell me what they were doing and what was going on in there lives.
BUT being Sheryl and Gary's father was at the top of the list. I fear he didn't show you both how much you meant to him, how much he loved you. But he did. I know that and I hope you do too!
