To My Cousins, I was very sad to learn of my "Auntie Jean's" passing. She and my Aunt Jewell were my favorite Aunts in life. I'm happy for her that she is back with her first family, and I know that my Dad was there to meet her. When I think of her, it is with a smile, for all of the great times our famlies' had when we were growing up. With loving thoughts of her, and with deepest sympathy to each of you,I wish you all well in your time of grief and loving reflection on your Mother fran wiatr

Joan, Don, Jean and Laureen I received this essay when my father died and gave a great deal of comfort. I pray thanks that she is in a better place. I loved her dearly as I do you all. Steve Gone From My Sight ~ Henry VanDyke (1852-1933) ~ I am standing upon the seashore. A ship spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.  She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!" "Gone where?" She is gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, "There, she is gone!" There are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout; Here she comes! And that is dying. Faith is to losing our loved ones as sunshine is to a stained glass window

My memories of Mrs. Watson are from the time when I was Laureen's college roommate and we girls would descend on her home for the weekend with our loud giggles, late nights, and assorted "stuff". I can recall Mrs. Watson's welcoming smile and warm hospitality to this day; she was always happy to be hostess to us silly girls, and I felt so comfortable in her presence. What a sweet, loving, classy woman she was! Rest in peace, "Mama Wat" and know that you were loved and appreciated by everyone who knew you.
You will be missed.

My wonderful Mom was the center of my life and I shall truly miss her now that she has passed. Life will never be the same without her but at least we all have very happy memories of her. During this time of grief, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank my mom for all her loving attention and concern as I was growing up. I deeply appreciate the many long hours she devoted to caring for her family and admire her for her intelligence, strong faith, and fortitude. She provided lots of love and support as I grew into adulthood and became not just my mother, but my best friend. She was the very best role model a young girl could have. Mom was always there to listen, offer encouragement, share some laughs, and give of herself whenever needed. She supported me in everything I did (except smoking!) and was always there to console me when things went wrong. She had a great sense of humor and was quick to smile or laugh. I loved listening to stories from her childhood and spending time with her pursuing pastimes we both enjoyed like cooking, taking trips, going for long car rides, camping, watching the waves at Cape Cod and playing with and caring for all our dogs, especially her beloved Holly. When I was little, I was always very proud on parent visiting days in school because I had the prettiest mother in the class. Even now, at age 90, she was still very beautiful. Mom was truly one of the most un-selfish people I have ever known and she always faced the adversities in her life with courage and strength. She never even shed a tear for herself when she learned that this last bout with cancer was terminal. She only asked to be at home surrounded by her family, which we lovingly did for her these past six weeks with the help of Masonic Care Hospice, trying to ease her pain and comfort her. She passed away quietly in her sleep early Thanksgiving morning. Hopefully, she once again got to celebrate Thanksgiving in Heaven along with her parents (Francis and Rose), her eldest brother, Frank, her twin brothers Walt and Ted and her little sister Irene as well as the many other people whom she had loved in life but who passed before her. I count myself lucky indeed to have had such a loving and wonderful mom in my life, and I truly hope she knows how very much I love her in return. Jean I Watson - Bristol CT

My mother's family name was pronounced "waiter" because her father was for years a waiter at the Elton Hotel in Waterbury, CT. The correct spelling however is Wiatr, from the Polish word that means sky or clouds. Her correct name should be listed as Jean Wiatr Watson.
