Obituary of Jean Watson
CHESHIRE - Jean W. Watson, 90, passed away Thursday November 24, 2011 at her home.
Mrs. Watson was born May 7, 1921 in Meriden, the daughter of the late Francis and Rose (Buksa) Wiatr. She grew up in Waterbury where she graduated from Wilby High School. After her marriage to Edwin F. Watson, she lived in Torrington before moving to Cheshire in 1956. She has been a parishioner of St. Bridget Church since then.
Mrs. Watson was pre-deceased by three brothers; Francis Wiatr, Theodore Wiatr and Walter Wiatr all of Waterbury, a sister, Mrs. Irene Pater of Middlebury and her former husband Edwin F. Watson of Waterbury.
Mrs. Watson worked at Southern New England Telephone as a telephone operator in the 1940's before marrying and raising a family. She also worked at the Cheshire Public Library in the late 1970's. She was an avid UCONN Women's basketball fan, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her son Donald R. Watson of Westmoreland, NH; her daughters Jean I. Watson of Forestville, Joan Williams of Chester and Laureen Mastroianni of Cheshire; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 30th at 9:15 from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to St. Bridget Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget Church.
