Dora was such a wonderful person, role model and friend. It was Dora that saw a small spark in me and offered me a position at Jack & Jill Nursery School. Little did I know that it was the beginning of a thirty year long career in Early Childhood Education. My last position in the field was that of Director at the J.C.C. Preschool in Tampa, Fl. from which I retired, after twenty years, to pursue a new career path. We had such fun at the preschool, there was never a dull moment. I remember enjoying the boat, especially after reupholstering the cushions in that plaid fabric that had to be matched in "all directions". I learned to never shake the paint until you have tighten the cap after watching her get green paint all over her wool skirt! Lucky for her it was the one and only time that the paint was really washable! I used to envy how, no matter what was going on in the lives of her family, no one ever missed getting together to celebrate birthdays. I also remember how honored Bob and I were to be asked to sing at Dora's & Joe's 50th wedding anniversary. Over the years, I have tried to keep in touch with Dora through Christmas cards and visits to Connecticut. Currently I am the Activities & Volunteer Coordinator at Brighton Gardens Senior Living. Who would have thought that I would also love working with senior citizens. I can proudly say that I have worked with infants through 105 year old's and counting. Dora will always hold a special place in my heart. I know she has left you all with many wonderful memories. She was a great lady that will be missed. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Kim

To Dora's family, Please accept my sincerest sympathy. Dora was a docent at the Mattatuck Museum when I was the Director of Education there. She was a true lady in every sense and of course, she was wonderful with the children who came in for tours. Dora also helped in many other areas of the museum always with a smile and always with perfection. I know she touched many lives over the years and she will be missed.

To the Whitright family - my condolences on the passing of Dora. I was saddened to hear of Dora's passing. I was a student at Jack and Jill in the early 1970's and fondly remember my time there. For many years after, when I would see Dora in the grocery store or elsewhere and she would always remember me and give me a smile and a big hug! She was a great person and she touched so many lives through Jack and Jill.

To all the Whitright family, How lucky we all are to have known such a special lady! From my youngest brother to almost all of my nephews, they have all had the greatest experience as Jack & Jill graduates! I loved the years of helping Joe in all the graduations and they were made all the more special with Dora at the helm. Have so many memories of her at Joey's parties and events around town and the love she had of her family so evident. May she rest in peace and know we are so blessed having known her. Our depest condolences, Leslie Marinaro & family
