Obituary of Dora Whitright
CHESHIRE - Dora Julia (Eurell) Whitright, died peacefully on April 5, 2013 in Cheshire. She was the wife of the late Joseph Whitright. They had lived in Cheshire since 1941.
Dora was born on November 12, 1918 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Daniel Eurell and Mary Ellen (Bullock) Eurell. Dora graduated from Crosby High School where she was an outstanding athlete. She won awards in track, swimming and tennis.
In 1954, she founded and was the director of The Jack and Jill Nursery School.
She had an enormous sense of pride in her school and enjoyed each and every child that attended. She retired in 1996.
Dora had a beautiful life. She had an easy going nature and a ready smile.
She enjoyed a good game of tennis at Copper Valley, boating on the Connecticut River with her husband and family and weekends in Vermont.
Dora was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She leaves behind, always to miss her, three daughters. Jean Fazzone and son in law James of Madison, Gail Whitright of Middletown, JoAnn MacLachlan and son in law Brad, of Raleigh, NC and a son Joseph and daughter in law Robin of Cheshire. Seven grandchildren Suzzanne Robitaille of Cheshire, Daniel, Michael and Lindsey MacLachlan of Raleigh, NC., Jennifer, Joseph and Jack Whitright of Cheshire; Three great grandchildren, Rachael, James and Caroline Robitaille of Cheshire and five nieces. She was predeceased by a sister Ellen Link.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 11 am at First Congregational Church of Cheshire. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery and there are no calling hours. Contributions can be made in her memory to The First Congregational Church, 111 Church Drive, Cheshire, CT 06410. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
