Obituary of William Pleines
Plainville - William H. Pleines, 88, of Plainville, loving husband of over 65 years to Mary (Hannigan) Pleines, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Bristol Hospital after a short illness. He was born in New Haven on November 17, 1919 the son of the late Margaret and Henry Pleines. He resided in West Haven for 42 years and in Cheshire for 44 years. Bill was a proud Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theater for over three years. He was a proud and devoted husband to Mary and father to their four sons; William Jr., Robert, Richard, and Michael. Bill loved to host cook-outs and holidays for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He worked at Winchester as well as other companies as a skilled tool maker and die maker, providing a wonderful life for his family. Besides his devoted wife, Bill is survived by his sons William Jr. and his wife Ann of South Windsor, Michael and his wife Lori of Plainville, Robert and his wife Susan of Williamstown MA, and Richard and his wife Cathy of New Haven; his grandchildren William, Melanie, Lisa, Thomas, Michael, Kristen, Matthew, Timothy, and Russ; and his great grandchildren are Nicole, Samantha, Joseph, Calvin, and James.Arrangements - A funeral mass will be held on Thursday March 6th at 9:15 a.m. from the Slater Funeral Home, 242 S. Main St., Cheshire to St. Bridgets Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
